Öland with KF Mari and Tea

The longer summer went on, the closer we became to the end of our experience. We were getting excited to be back with friends and family and to live in our house again. The only problem is that Sweden had become a home for us. We made incredible friends and they were going to be hard to leave. Perhaps sensing our apprehension of leaving, Karl-Fredrik and Mari invited us to Öland to spend a week at Mari's mom's summer home. This was somewhat of a last trip with them and we made sure to enjoy every moment of every day.

The scenery was great (much different than the Archipelago), the food was outstanding, and the company was second to none. . .

We visited Eketorp Castle which was originally built during the Iron Age (6th Century BC!). Luckily enough for them, there weren't actually any dinosaurs around to battle against. The fort was utilized heavily during medieval times and was in full force when we showed up.

There it is, number 100!

"See, you know about these already Amblen, because you have the great Kentucky Fried Chicken at your home!"

The house was classically Swedish with enough small rooms to sleep a large family.

Tea and Amblen dined together frequently

The farm just up the road had a boutique which was fully stocked with vegetables, eggs, and even homemade flower champagne.

When in Sweden, do as the Swedes! (unless of course there's really no breeze and the board you're trying to use belongs to Mari's 150lb uncle)

We took a trip to the northern tip of the island to see the huge lighthouse and watch for birds.

Pussas!

Never a dull moment for Luna with 80 ft ceiling fans around!

Grava Lax for breakfast everyday.

We always looked forward to the evening; sunsets, fine Swedish beer, and Plump!

Thanks for the great trip!!
