Luleå
Way, way, way up north there's a little town called Luleå. We headed up for Cindy to speak in a conference and stayed on to enjoy the activities. There are supposed to be feet and feet of snow up here since it is almost on the Arctic Circle. Not this year. No one can recall the last time there was so little snow. No Global Warming huh? While we were there the slush turned to snow and we saw some sites. . .
One of the highlights was Gammelstad (Old Town). The town consists of many wooden cottages constructed around an early 15th century stone church. Since it took so long for people to reach the church from the surrounding countryside they would stay over in the cottages. Gammelstad is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
